Anticancer agents, Medicinal Chemistry, Targeting strategies
Dr. Wrasidlo is interested in medicinal chemistry with the intent to develop novel agents and targeting strategies for application as anticancer drugs and methods for targeting tumors. Specifically, he designs novel compounds by using natural product templates as well as computational methods to find lead molecules for further development into drug like compounds. These leads are then tested in various preclinical studies involving both in vitro and in vivo assays.
He is specifically interested in developing anticancer drugs which target either tumor upregulated, deleted or mutated proteins such as RAF,PI3K, AdSS, Src. Wrasidlo is also involved in developing nanoparticles for use as targeted carriers for clinically established and novel antitumor and antiangiogenic agents.
