Oncology Certified Nursing

Registered Nurses who are committed to providing quality cancer patient care become oncology certified nurses. The Oncology Certified Nurse (or OCN) is the credential that represents the commitment and knowledge of these special nurses.

Nurses who earn the OCN credential have proven their knowledge of cancer care by passing a test and maintaining certification by regularly completing oncology and clinical educational programs. The OCN-certified nurses is experienced, knowledgeable, and informed about the latest in cancer treatments, research, symptom management, and patient support.

At Moores Cancer Center, the OCN credential is held by more than 60% of nurses practicing here. In addition, many have also earned additional advanced and sub-specialty credentials.

The expectation of certification shows that our Moores Cancer Center nurses have made an extra effort to provide special expertise and experience to all patients in their care.
