Hepatobiliary Surgery
At UC San Diego Medical Center, the Division of Transplantation and Hepatobiliary Surgery has developed an organ-system-specific approach to encompass all surgical techniques available for the management of hepatobiliary disease.
Our surgeons have the unique ability to perform the full array of surgical techniques for both malignant and non-malignant diseases of the liver, bile duct, and pancreas from liver transplantation to hepatic resection. The Medical Center offers a combined multidisciplinary group of hepatobiliary surgeons, radiologists, hepatologists, oncologists, and gastroenterologists for the management of complex biliary tract problems.
UCSD offers multimodality therapy of bilary tract disorders including:
- Abdominal organ transplantation (kidney, liver, pancreas)
- Biliary manometry
- ERCP (Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography)
- Hepatobiliary surgery (surgery of the liver, bile ducts and pancreas)
- Laparoscopic and open surgery
- Percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography
The ability of our surgeons to merge techniques from both transplantation and oncologic surgery allows the most aggressive surgical approach to malignant hepatobiliary disease.
