Brain Tumor Center
UC San Diego's Brain Tumor Center provides a compassionate team approach to patients with primary brain tumors or neurologic complications of cancer.
Patient care includes neurological evaluations, MRI scans and pathology review, and face-to-face discussions with neuro-oncologists to develop treatment plans. Rapid referral to other specialists is readily available and a Brain Tumor Board reviews individual patient cases for the development of a coordinated management plan.
Treatment options include surgery, conventional conformal and focused radiation (stereotactic radiosurgery with Gamma Knife and LINAC-Pinnacle), chemotherapy, and clinical trials using novel and experimental therapies.
The faculty has extensive experience in treating brain tumors and providing a comprehensive management plan for patients at all stages of their illness.
