Christopher Loertscher serves as UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center Director for Program Planning and Development. In this role, Mr. Loertscher works closely with the Moores Cancer Center Director Scott Lippman, MD, and other senior leaders on strategic planning, organizational development, community outreach, philanthropy, communications and marketing. Mr. Loertscher is also involved in faculty and staff recruitment efforts and serves as liaison between Moores Cancer Center and the larger UC San Diego community.

Mr. Loertscher brings more than 14 years of experience to this position in university and academic health care administration. He has held positions working in a college of humanities, as administrator of the Division of Rheumatology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, and most recently as administrator in the Department of Thoracic/Head and Neck Medical Oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Mr. Loertscher earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Utah and a Master of Arts in public policy and administration from Northwestern University. A native of Utah, Loertscher enjoys film, literature, and traveling in his spare time. His goal to visit all 50 states is nearly complete, with only Alaska and North Dakota remaining.
