Dr. Tracy Downs completed his urology residency at the Harvard Medical School and a urologic oncology fellowship at University of California, San Francisco. While a prostate SPORE fellow during his oncology fellowship, Dr. Downs was involved with gene expression analysis from tissue obtained at the time of diagnositc prostate biopsy, as well as in health-related quality of life research in prostate cancer patients studying the longitudinal prostate cancer disease registry (CaPSURE).
At UCSD Dr. Downs' research has been focused on developing a prostate cancer clinical database and radio-isotope studies to help improve the early detection of bone metastasis. He is collaborating on other studies involving PTHrp and gene expression of prostate cancer.
