Dr. Esener interests focus on utilizing novel nanotechnology approaches for cancer imaging and therapeutics. His specific research interests include light modulation, detection and amplification, heterogeneous integration of opto-electronic components, optical data storage, optical interconnects and related computing architectures, and biophotonics as applied to gene chips.
He is also interested in DNA-assisted heterogeneous integration and optical cell sorting, and parallel light tweezer systems for handling and characterization of biological entities. His research in photonics and opto-electronics will be utilized to develop novel nano-sensors for cancer detection.
