Signaling Networks, MAPK
Mitogen-activated protein kinase pathways The mitogen-activated protein kinase (or MAPK) pathway is a central signaling pathway in cells. One of the important roles of this pathway is to stimulate the division of cells and inappropriate activation of this pathway plays an important role in cancer. Our laboratory is using the nematode, Caenorhabditis elegans, to study the regulation of this pathway. The excellent reverse and forward genetics of C. elegans and its large 'interactome' databank are allowing us to identify new upstream activators of this pathway and new downstream targets.
