Dr. Bazhenova's clinical practice concentrates on lung cancer patients, particularly as this relates to females and non-smokers. She actively participates in cooperative group trials, and takes an active role in designing and implementing clinical investigations at Moores, including phase II studies and correlative science projects with several UCSD investigators.
Dr. Bazhenova is developing strong collaborations with pharmaceutical companies to ensure that her patients get access to the most promising new advances in cancer therapeutics.
Her secondary research interests include supportive care and management of chemotherapy toxicities. Before joining Moores UCSD Cancer Center, she worked on SHP-1 protein and its role in MDS progression and on the very rare varian of amyloidosis called Finnish familial amyloidodid of gelsolin type.
