Clinical Focus Dr. Lindamer is a licensed psychologist in California and serves as a consultant in the Division of Geriatric Psychiatry. She advises medical students and fellows, undergraduates, pre- and post-doctoral fellows, and staff who work with older adults at both the VASDHS and UCSD. Her areas of expertise include neuropsychology and psychotic disorders.
Research Focus Dr. Lindamer’s research interests include the gender differences and role of estrogen in schizophrenia, health issues in older adults with psychosis, and the development of public-academic partnerships to promote the implementation of evidenced-based practices in older adults with psychosis. She was a recipient of an NIMH career development award and a NARSAD Young Investigator Award for her research in the role of estrogen in late-life psychosis. Her current research projects include a study of risk factors for osteoporosis in older women with psychosis and the development of a residential-based health promotion program for older adults with psychosis. She is also working with the San Diego County Mental Health Services to implement a medication algorithm program in outpatients with schizophrenia.
