Breast Cancer, Clinical Research
Breast cancer survivors represent the largest population of cancer survivors. Chemotherapy and hormonal therapies have increased the survival or these women. However, the short- and long-term impact of therapies are significant.
To improve the quality of life of women undergoing treatment for breast cancer, Dr. Mortimer utilizes serial PET imaging to identify which women with advanced cancers are likely to benefit from hormonal therapies. She also serially assesses the impact of adjuvant therapy on the quality of life for women with early stage breast cancers.
Included in this research is the effect of treatment on cognitive functioning, sexuality, relationships, and bone health.
