Dr. Edward Gorham is a research epidemiologist at the Naval Health Research Center (NHRC) and an Assistant Adjunct Professor in the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine at UCSD. He holds a Ph.D. in Epidemiology from the University of California, San Diego and San Diego State University received in 1997.
At NHRC, Dr. Gorham serves as Principle Investigator on several ongoing epidemiological research projects supported by the Navy Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, and the Office of Naval Research. His work has focused primarily on design and development of large-scale epidemiological studies of cancer in military populations, and he has published research articles on the causes and prevention of breast and colon cancer, melanoma, leukemia and lymphomas, and testicular cancer. His work appears in a variety of medical journals including the Journal of the American Medical Association, Lancet, American Journal of Public Health, Annals of Epidemiology, the American Journal of Epidemiology, and the International Journal of Epidemiology.
In 1998, Dr. Gorham was a recipient of the Arnold-Rikli Prize awarded by an international committee in Basel Switzerland for his work in the area of vitamin D and cancer prevention.
