Dr. Norman's research focuses on measurement, intervention, and evaluation related to health promotion and disease prevention in the areas of physical activity, diet, and smoking behavior change. As a Co-Investigator on the Patient-centered, Assessment and Counseling for Exercise (PACE) studies, he is actively involved in the development and evaluation of evidence-based health interventions using interactive, computerized and web-based applications.
Dr. Norman is currently the Principal Investigator an R01 grant from NCI to systematically assess the intra-personal, inter-personal, and environmental mechanisms of physical activity behavior and sedentary behavior. He has authored or co-authored 40 peer reviewed publications in the areas of measurement development, intervention evaluation, and testing aspects of health behavior change theory.
