STEPS YOU CAN TAKE - Nutrition

Nutrition is a Hot Topic, But …

  • Nutrition is a hot area of interest – everyone can relate to nutrition and food, because everyone eats!  Food has meaning to us, and beliefs about foods and nutrition -- even if not well supported by science or biological evidence -- can be held very strongly.

  • Because of the importance of food to most of us, a lot of unfounded ideas and opinions about nutrition become popular, often shared by well-meaning family members, friends and even health care providers.

  • Cancer survivors want to remain in good health, but may find it difficult to reach beyond opinions and fiction. Although fairly well established nutritional information as found in the scientific literature, it has yet to receive a wider public audience. What is not known, cannot be practiced.

We at the Moores UCSD Cancer Center keep up with the popular ideas.  We are also well informed about the science behind the connections, and can help you sort this out -- to enable you to make the best choices.
