STEPS YOU CAN TAKE - Nutrition

Nutrition and Cancer Prevention

  • Numerous studies have linked nutritional factors (like obesity and dietary intakes), with risk for primary cancers.

  • Those most strongly associated with various nutritional and dietary factors include: cancer of the breast, prostate, colon and rectum, oral cavity, lung, endometrium, and cervix.

  • Other factors also influence risk for cancer, such as genetic susceptibility, but only set the stage.  It is the environmental factors (such as diet) that determine whether susceptibility becomes translated into clinical disease.
