What is Needed to Use the Internet from Home?
To use the Internet, you need:

Software Popular Web browsers include
Netscape "Navigator" or "Communicator, Internet Explorer
from Microsoft, and America OnLines browser.
Internet
Service Provider Next, you need an Internet service provider
(ISP). Just as a phone needs a phone company to function, a computer needs
an Internet service provider. America OnLine (AOL,) CompuServe, and Prodigy
are online services that include Internet access and other functions. A
direct ISP provides only Internet access at competitive prices and can offer
faster connections. Costs range from $5.00 per month for limited use to
an average of $15-20 per month for unlimited use. Cable modem costs run
approximately $45-50 per month.
