Interactions with Mentor Interpreters
Each quarter the students are paired with a new ASL mentor interpreter. ASL Fellows engage in 10 hours of mentorship activities during their eight-week elective curriculum. They discuss:
- deaf culture
- ethical issues that can occur between their Deaf patients and doctors
- interpreters’ roles, strengths, and limitations
- the difference between ASL and English
