Dr. Kipps has specific responsibility for encouraging cooperative research involving all three Divisions (Basic, Clinical, Prevention) in the Moores UCSD Cancer Center. Duties involve oversight of Center support for peer-reviewed research projects, and intimate participation in the formulation of policy to encourage and facilitate current and future outstanding research.

Thomas J. Kipps, MD, PhD has a national and international reputation for his research in cancer research and is outstandingly well qualified for the role. He is the author of 177 publications and is the PI on several peer-reviewed grants including the recent NCI award of $16.5 Million for the Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Consortium involving collaboration with eight other Cancer Centers. Kipps has 20 years’ experience in combining research and clinical care responsibilities and is ideally qualified for this position in the Center.
