PEOPLE - Associate Director for Cancer Research Education and Training

Elaine Muchmore, MD
Professor of Clinical Medicine

Dr. Muchmore is responsible for enhancing research training opportunities and for directing the programs of education and instruction in cancer research and oncology in the Cancer Center.  Duties include coordinating the screening and orientation of individuals for positions in the combined Cancer Center Hematology/Oncology fellowship training program, identifying synergistic training opportunities among members and fellows, assembling training grants to support both pre- and postdoctoral fellowships, and coordinating the presentation of research findings to Cancer Center members and other investigators.

In seeking to further the Cancer Center mission of translating research progress into therapeutic benefit, Dr. Muchmore is integrating basic science and clinical training programs.  With the assistance of Cancer Center program leaders she is developing opportunities to facilitate communication and cooperation between Cancer Center investigators.  She directs a weekly lecture series covering a broad range of topics in cancer research and treatment.  She also is coordinating the course in Cancer Biology for pre- and postdoctoral fellows.
